Features & Ease of Use

We tried built-in cables, display indicators, and extra features like pass-through charging or companion apps. Setup, usability, and how intuitive each power bank felt were key points.

We analysed user feedback to identify long-term reliability, common issues, charging consistency, and how well each power bank performed in real-world settings.

Best Power Bank Overall

UGREEN 145W Power Bank 25,000mAh

What We Like

Charges laptops without struggle
Fast top-up in 2 hours
Handy LED battery display

What We Don’t Like

Premium pricing tier
Heavier than others
Can get chunky in bags

After testing different power banks, we finally found the one that tops everything else. With reliable features for its price, the UGREEN 145W Power Bank checks all the boxes we’re looking for in a battery pack.

Designed for power users who aren’t messing around, this chunky beast holds enough power (25,000mAh) to fully charge not just your laptop once, but also still have enough juice left to refuel your phone two to three times. This is expected, since it can push out up to 145W of power, but it didn’t stop us from being impressed.

Perhaps its bigger flex is when it runs low, you don’t have to wait all day for it to recharge. It supports fast recharging up to 65W, which is a fancy way of saying: you can refill this entire power bank in just under two hours — as long as you’re using a charger that supports fast output (like the kind that usually comes with newer laptops).

Beyond its speed, we loved the digital battery display – a small thing, but super convenient. No more vague blinking lights; you actually know how much is left.

The solid build also made it feel pretty durable, which is great because it definitely takes up some space in our work bags. And yes, it’s approved for carry-on, sitting just under the 100 watt-hour airline safety limit.

Charges laptops and recharges itself fully in just 2 hours.

Now, about that size—it’s definitely on the bulkier side. Not “back-breaking,” but we felt its weight when lugging it around in a smaller sling bag. Still, we didn’t mind it too much, especially when we were working remotely for hours without hunting for a wall socket. We’d trade that bulk for power any day.

If we’re being nitpicky, though, there is a slight issue on durability. One of our earlier units started acting up after a couple of months—charging would get finicky unless we unplugged and replugged a few times. It eventually stopped working altogether.

To be fair, this seems to be a rare case based on other reviews, and our current unit is holding up strong. But it’s something to keep in mind if you’re relying on it daily for travel or work.

That said, with its ability to fully charge a phone in less than an hour, charge a laptop, and even other gadgets without a hassle, this UGREEN power bank tops the list for all-around performance.

Best Power Bank for Value

Baseus Power Bank 10,000mAh/20,000mAh

What We Like

Affordable without cutting corners
Built-in cables = fewer cords
Fast charges for most phones

What We Don’t Like

Cables can loosen over time
Slower charging on heavier use

Now if you want a power bank that’s reliable but still within your budget, the Baseus Qpow2 Power Bank is your best pick. Available in 10000mAh or 20000mAh, we’ve used both sizes and for their price, they definitely deliver more than expected.

Our favourite thing about this were the built-in cables: one for iPhones, and one for USB-C, neatly tucked in at the sides. This meant less clutter, and less rummaging in our bags to look for charging cables.

To test it out, we brought this power bank on a weekend trip, especially when we were not at the hotel. At its full capacity, it charged an iPhone from 40 to 100% in just under an hour (45 minutes to be exact). On a Samsung, we plugged the phone when it was at 19% and the power bank at 75. After 30 minutes, phone was already at 56% while the power bank only went down to 60%. Talk about packing a punch!

Built-in Lightning and USB-C cables for easy, cable-free charging.

Now for the quirks. The built-in cables are useful, but after a few weeks, they started acting up a bit. Sometimes we had to plug and unplug a few times to get the charge going. You won’t be totally stuck with these cables though, in case you encounter any issues, since it has a USB-C port.

And while the fast-charging works well out of the box, it noticeably slowed a bit if the battery is running low or if you’re charging more than one device.

Still, for something that sits comfortably under S$45, this power bank checks all the boxes for budget-conscious buyers.

It looks sleek, charges fast, and keeps your bag cable-free. If you’re someone who wants a practical charger without the fuss (or the price tag), Baseus definitely delivers.

Best Power Bank for Travelling

Xiaomi 3 Ultra Compact Power Bank 10,000mAh

What We Like

Small enough to pocket
Fast charging on the go
Great value for travellers

What We Don’t Like

Battery light hard to read
Not ideal for big devices

For a travel-friendly power bank that keeps things simple and light, the Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 Ultra Compact really came through for us.

We wanted something that could slip into a small pouch or even a back pocket, and this thing absolutely nailed it. Think credit card-sized footprint, barely weighing 200 grams — it’s easy to forget you’re even carrying it.

The best part is that even with its size, this power bank didn’t hold back. It can fast-charge phones with up to 22.5W output, and has three ports (2 USB-A and 1 USB-C), which means we could top up three devices simultaneously — a phone, a tablet, and even a pocket WiFi router. For day trips or overnight flights, this Xiaomi power bank was more than enough to keep everything running.

Pocket-sized but powerful enough to charge three devices at once.

Another thing that surprised us was how quickly it recharged itself. With the right PD charger, we got it back to full in just under 4 hours. Perfect if you’re heading out and need a quick top-up before boarding.

That said, it’s not without a few caveats. The LED battery indicator is tucked a bit too far inside the casing, so checking how much charge is left sometimes feels like a guessing game, especially under dim lighting.

And while it’s great for phones, it’s not the best fit for laptops or power-hungry devices. It’ll give a boost, sure, but don’t expect it to replace your laptop charger.

Still, it’s one of the best pocket-sized power banks we’ve used. If you’re hopping between meetings, sightseeing, or just don’t want to carry bulk, the Xiaomi Ultra Compact makes an ideal everyday charger.

Best Power Bank for Fast Charging

Anker 22.5W Powerbank Fast Charging 10,000mAh (A1388)

What We Like

Charges phones super quickly
Solid and sleek build quality
Built-in USB-C strap cable

What We Don’t Like

Fingerprint-prone display
Recharges slower than expected

When it comes to fast charging in a compact size, this Anker A1388 absolutely lives up to the hype.

We took it out as our go-to daily power bank, and it really proved its worth. With 22.5W output, it juiced our iPhone from 30% to almost full in just over half an hour. That’s impressive for something that feels about the size and shape of a slim phone.

What we really liked about this one was the included USB-C cable designed as a strap. Just like the Baseus model, it helps to make sure you’re with a reliable cable. Whether you’re topping up at a café or at the airport, you just flip the strap, plug in, and go.

That is, if your device needs a USB-C charger. You might still need to carry an extra one that suits your device.

Delivers rapid 22.5W fast charging with a clever built-in USB-C strap.

This Anker also held up really well during longer outings. One full charge got us through about two to two and a half phone recharges, depending on the device.

Also, another important thing was that it didn’t heat up even when pushing fast speeds. Because of its fast charging performance, though, we might have pushed it too much since we were charging devices one after the other, so long as it had battery. But to be fair, this Anker power bank remained consistent and didn’t seem to have any slow-downs.

However, there’s a few things to note for this power bank. While it’s fast charging for your phone, it’s not so much for itself. We timed its charging and after around 3 hours, it finally reached 100%. So if you’re planning on bringing this on outings, make sure to charge it the night before.

A smaller, much minor, thing was that the display was prone to fingerprints – you’d know if someone had used it recently because of the evidence (cue my Sherlock hat and magnifying glass).

That said, after having used a lot of power banks over the years, Anker still holds the crown for reliability. You’re paying a bit more, but if you want safe, stable, fast charging without surprises, this one’s worth it.

Best Heavy Duty Power Bank for Laptop Charging

Anker 250W Powerbank Powercore 27,650 mAh (A1340)

What We Like

Powers a laptop with ease
Fast recharge in 40 mins
Smart OLED display is helpful

What We Don’t Like

Definitely on the heavy side
Base charger sold separately
Pricey for a power bank

This one’s a beast. If you’re looking for a power bank that can handle your entire workstation, the Anker 250W PowerCore (A1340) is probably the closest thing to a wall socket you can carry in a bag.

We’ve used it for travel and work days on the go, and it didn’t just charge our gear—it ran it, fast. We’re talking about fully powering a MacBook Pro at 140W, while also topping up a phone and tablet at the same time.

Its standout feature: the power bank has a massive 250W total output. It even has a real-time OLED display that tells you exactly how many watts each device is drawing. Great for control freaks (like us) who want to know everything that’s going on, mildly interesting for those who might think it’s not too deep.

Another thing that surprised us was the speed at which it recharges. With the optional Anker charging base (which we tested), this power bank goes from 0 to full in 40 minutes. That’s wild considering it’s a 99Wh battery—that’s more capacity than what most budget power stations offer. Even without the dock, it recharges faster than your average high-capacity power bank with just a regular USB-C PD charger.

High-capacity power bank that can run a laptop at full 140W speed.

A few things to keep in mind, though. This unit is heavy. You’ll feel it in your backpack, especially if you’re carrying other devices. It’s not something you casually bring on a quick errand—it’s better suited for work trips, photography shoots, or long flights.

And yes, it’s expensive. Like, easily S$250 or more expensive. But with that, you get an ultra-premium build, support for USB-C laptops, and the kind of power reliability that makes you forget about outlets entirely.

Also, the fast recharge only hits those speeds if you get the extra charging dock, which costs separately. Without it, it’ll still charge fast—just not in 40 minutes fast. Still, we can’t complain much. It’s not made for casual users—it’s for people who need serious backup power.

Whether you’re powering a Steam Deck, MacBook, drone gear, or all of the above, this Anker truly delivers. It’s easily the most high-performance laptop power bank we’ve used, and it’s now a permanent part of our travel setup.

Final thoughts

After going through all these power banks, one thing’s clear: having the right backup charger makes a bigger difference than we expected.

Whether you’re running around with just your phone or managing a laptop, tablet, and earbuds all at once, there’s a power bank here that can keep up.

Some are ultra-slim and perfect for travel days, others are built like tanks for heavy-duty charging—and a few are smart enough to handle all your gadgets at once without breaking a sweat.

If your old power bank’s been lagging behind (or worse, left you stranded at 10%), now’s a good time to upgrade. A reliable charger doesn’t just power your devices—it keeps your day moving.

And when you find one that works fast, stays light, and doesn’t make you dig for extra cables? That’s a win worth plugging into.
